Some thoughts that crossed my mind while reading your article: Leaving your comfort zone is not about increasing the quantity (how much) but moreover to seek increased challenges in the quality (what) you do.
Also, in order to grow you have to find the just right amount of challenge and discomfort. Only then you get into the “flow” to be able to perform at your best.
Finally, it sounds like the tasks you had to deal with were given to you instead of being chosen by you. I think it is essential to choose one´s own to dos as much as possible and practice saying “no” to most of the stuff that is dropped on your desk.
I know it is difficult, I am saying that being a consultant…
